Youth Group Seder Meal

Seder Meal1

Eating at the MCC youth group is nothing new but on Sunday evening last week (24th Mar) we met together for a feast of a rather unusual kind. Using a liturgy provided by a Jewish family we walked ourselves through the various stages of a Seder meal, the dinner at which Jewish families traditionally commemorate the Passover. Instead of a roasted lamb we had lamb kebabs but apart from that (and the non-alcoholic wine!) we stayed pretty close to what would usually be part of the traditional service. It was a great opportunity to learn a little more about the roots of our faith and to see just how much the story of Jesus brings to fulfilment the story of Israel.  Our thanks to everybody who helped to make it happen. Next year in Jerusalem!

Tenebrae Service – Thurs 28th Mar

We are delighted to invite you to join us for Tenebrae on Thur 28th March @ 8.00pm in Maynooth Post-Primary School.

For centuries Christians have prepared for Easter with this Service of the Shadows. Beginning in the light of candles, the service consists of readings, songs and homily. As we journey into the story of Jesus’ passion, the candles are progressively extinguished until we end in the total darkness of our Saviour’s’ death.

Join us for this ancient and powerful invitation to wonder. We’ll begin at 8.00pm with light and fellowship and finish at 9.00pm in darkness and silence. All are welcome. This year’s Tenebrae Service will be on Thursday evening 28th March @ 8.00pm. Everyone welcome.
